The Goldendoodle is one of our most popular mixes.  They're very intelligent, benefitting from the intelligence of the Poodle and the Golden Retriever.  Most do retain their hunting instincts.  Our Standard sized Goldendoodles average between 40 and 60 pounds.  Mini's, the result of using Miniature and Toy Poodles in the breeding program, mature smaller, between 15 and 30 pounds.  Colors are generally solid - red, cream, and apricot are most common.   The coat type for the "First Generation", the cross between a purebred Golden Retriever and a purebred Poodle, is most commonly wavy to somewhat curly.  This type of coat usually sheds far less than the Golden Retriever, but may shed to some degree.  First Generation Goldendoodle coats are superior to First Generation Labradoodle coats, in most cases.   Goldendoodles are a fantastic choice for a family that has been considering a purebred Golden, but doesn't like the fact that Golden Retrievers are extreme shedders.  It can be a good choice for a family without allergies, or only mild allergies. 

The F1B Goldendoodle, a cross between a First Generation Goldendoodle and a Poodle, are often curly coated, and the curly coated F1B Goldendoodle is a good choice for allergic families.  Serious breeders are working toward the 2nd and further generations of Goldendoodles, to produce a curly coat that does not shed, with the muscular build of the Golden Retriever.  LABRADOODLES - SCHNOODLES -
